Awards Faculty and Student Awards SELECTED FACULTY AWARDS Adjunct Art Professor Charlie Ahearn's film Wild Style was named one of the top 10 films about New York by the New York Post. Assistant Professor of English and Director of the American Studies Program Sarah Blackwood, PhD, has been awarded a National Endowment for the Humanities fellowship to participate in a NEH Summer Institute. STUDENT AWARDS Emmanuel Bujans, Biochemistry, received an award for the best submitted manuscript at the 2012 Eastern Colleges Science Conference at William Paterson University. The 10th Annual Latino Trendsetter Awards and scholarship gala celebrated Chairman of the Performing Arts Department Jorge Luis Cacheiro, MFA, for his leadership in the Hispanic community. He has been a leading university theater innovator for nearly two decades. Danielle Cosgrove, Applied Psychology and Human Relations, received the 2012 Charles H. Dyson Award. Professor of Media, Communication, and Visual Arts Ellen Mandel, PhD, received a Jefferson Awards Bronze Medal for public service. The award was established to recognize and honor individuals whose community service efforts best exemplify dedication to enhancing the quality of life in their community. Alyssa Feldman, Psychology, and Alisha Hayes, Criminal Justice, each received a Jefferson Awards Bronze Medal for public service. Nazary Nebeluk, Biochemistry, received an award from the William Paterson Undergraduate Research Symposium for the best poster presentation in molecular biology. Associate Professor of Fine Arts Jillian McDonald, MFA, was awarded a Canada Arts Council Media Arts Production Grant (Mid-Career), for the creation of two video works and one new media work over the next two years. Neil Patel, Biochemistry, received an award for the best platform talk in microbiology at the 2012 Eastern Colleges Science Conference at William Paterson University. He was also selected for the American Society for Microbiology's 2011 Undergraduate Research Fellowship Program. Associate Professor of Media, Communication, and Visual Arts Michelle Pulaski-Behling, PhD, received the annual Dyson Technology Award. Marisch Perera, Communication Studies, was awarded a 2012 New York Women in Communications Scholarship. Allan Rabinowitz, cofounder of the MS in Publishing program for Dyson College, was honored for his 50 years of service as Professor of Accounting and Publishing at Pace University. He also worked in the corporate sector as an accountant and is a Pace alumnus. After teaching his last course this past summer, Professor Rabinowitz retired to spend more time with his family, travel, and read. Hannah Tall, Psychology, has been awarded a 2012-2013 Fulbright U.S. Student English Teaching Assistantship to Colombia. Year in Review 2011-2012 | 17
