Jin Wang Jin Wang Coke and Fries Adventure Video/Animation 00:01:23 2020 Coke and Fries Adventure This animation is based on my two cats. To me, having pets is one of the most important experiences, I know them well, and they are cute. The story tells how two cats accidentally enter the computer during a fight. They have an adventure in the computer, they beat the monster and finally come out of it, friends in the end. I chose the animation form as my project because I think animation gives more meaning than static works of art. I feel that the diversity of animation, the choice of different sounds, actions, and images, have more advantages of expression. And I wanted the challenge of a new way to make animations, not what I have learned before, which was traditional hand- drawn animation. Therefore, I used Adobe Illustrator to shape their body parts, make the monster, and the background. And I used After Effects to make the different layers move, and to add some special effects to the animation. Then I edited with Premiere and other editing applications, and combined real life video with the animation. Predecessors for my animations include movies like Ready Player One (2018) where people can use VR to enter the virtual world; Pokémon Detective Pikachu (2019) made from the perspective of a Pokémon, and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (2016) with the combination of reality and fantasy animals. My animation is mainly based on the combination of Ready Player One and Pokémon Detective Pikachu point of view, that my cats go into the computer from their perspective and experience an adventure. As the video shows in the beginning, they don't get along well with each other in reality. The original intention of this animation was to express my wish for them, to accomplish things that are impossible in reality, and hope that they can live in harmony after experiencing dangerous things together.
