The Angry
Mother
This animation is a play on angry mothers in the world. The Angry Mother
in question is partially based on my mother. The animation is done as a
cell animation; every scene is hand drawn using a light box and Sharpie.
Sound effects are added in using Audacity, FreeSound, and YouTube.
As an aspiring animator, I wanted to create my own animation for my last
semester at Pace. I was inspired to do so after taking three animation
courses with art professor Linda Herritt. Those three courses awakened
my love for animation. Throughout my childhood, animation played a big
part in my upbringing: my earliest memories consist of shows on PBS like
Caillou, Cyberchase, and Clifford. Anime shows that broadcast on
Cartoon Network and CW4Kids like Yu-Gi-Oh!, Naruto, and Winx Club
influenced my love for fantasy and action. The Angry Mother is basically
a love letter to my childhood.
