D Y S O N Y E A R I N R E V I E W • 2 0 1 9 – 2 0 2 0 6 Inside Dyson SNAPSHOTS Dyson's premier honors organization, the Society of Fellows, welcomed 23 new members this year. The new class is named in honor of Dean Nira Herrmann, pictured (right) with students and faculty at the society's annual meeting. The Dyson Scholars in Residence program is an academic experience in which students live together, take special seminars, and develop community service projects. DSIR student Khaleel McDonald '20 (pictured), a biology major, presented on living-learning communities at the Atlantic Center for Learning Communities Annual Conference. The Pleasantville Pace Psychology Club won a Community Service Program award from The National Association of College and University Residence Halls, Inc., for hosting the University's first Out of the Darkness Walk for suicide prevention awareness. Sponsored by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, the event raised more than $2,000. In summer 2019, nine Dyson students were awarded funding as part of the Helene and Grant Wilson Center's Summer Funded Internship Program. Political Science major Laurianne Gutierrez '20 (pictured) was a research and policy intern at the Asian American Federation.
