"It is important now more than ever to highlight
the parallel between systemic racism and mass
incarceration. I am proud to have worked for
an institution that encourages opening up the
discussion about social justice and criminal
justice, while amplifying the voices of those
directly affected by incarceration."
—Kimberly Schiess '23
Pace students provided cohesive and valuable research for the Sing Sing Prison Museum to support the
creation of a more accessible narrative about the prison's history. Their white papers provided a solid
foundation on which museum staff is currently building out the greater themes and concepts that the
museum will explore. This includes planning programming, exhibits, community events, and digital Town
Hall presentations, and building a more robust web presence. The students' papers have been shared with
the board as well, and they are a reference point for an augmented reality project currently in the works.
