Hosted in collaboration with the Helene and Grant Wilson
Center for Social Entrepreneurship, "Crisis at the Border:
Activism and Professions for Creating Change" provided an
opportunity for academics and activists from both Pace and
the community at-large to discuss the present-day reality of
immigration and related policing, as well as opportunities to
push for change.
Kelly Smith '21, a political science student, and Gurleen Bajwa
'21, an advertising and integrated marketing major, submitted
a winning letter for the Project Pericles 2020 Debating for
Democracy Letter to an Elected Official Competition. Their
"Letter in Support of the 'Promoting Reentry through Education
in Prisons Act of 2019' (S.1337) to Establish Prison Education
Programs" was addressed to Senator Charles E. Schumer (D-
NY) and will form the basis of a campaign on prison education
that they will organize at Pace during the 2020-2021 academic
year.
