D Y S O N C O L L E G E O F A R T S A N D S C I E N C E S 25 Faculty Associate Professor of Biology Zafir Buraei, PhD, received the Homer and Charles Pace Faculty Award, which honors a faculty member who embodies Pace's mission of Oppo unitas, has had a significant impact on the students' experience, and has served as an inspiring role model, going above and beyond to suppo student success in obtaining a Pace education. Assistant Professor of English, Writing, and Cultural Studies Dana Jaye Cadman's (MFA) sho story, "The Winds," published in the historical Saturday Evening Post, was a runner-up in their 2025 Great American Fiction contest. It is a story of a teenager spending a summer—replete with hormones and love spells—with her witch aunt. Assistant Professor of Psychology Andrew Choi, PhD, has earned board ce ification from the American Board of Professional Psychology, a prestigious recognition that affirms his advanced competence and professionalism in health service psychology. Criminal Justice and Security Professor Kimberly Collica-Cox, PhD, was presented with a proclamation by the Office of County Executive, Westchester County, describing her as a "female trailblazer" with unwavering commitment to the Westchester County Depa ment of Corrections (WCDOC)'s core values. She received an award from the WCDOC in recognition of her outstanding vision and dedicated service to the individuals at the county jail. Clinical Assistant Professor Akil DuPont, MFA, Media, Communications, and Visual A s, won the Best Production award at the Spring/ Summer 2024 New York Theater Festival for Underground, a story of the enslaved, told with the spirituals that guided them to freedom, and inspired by real events in America's history. Associate Professor and Chair of the Mathematics depa ment Lisa Fastenberg, PhD, has been appointed to the University's Board of Trustees. Fastenberg, a member of Pace faculty since 2001 and chair of the Mathematics depa ment, Pleasantville campus, since 2013, is serving a three-year term, during which she will bring a wealth of academic leadership and expe ise in mathematics education to the board. Media, Communications, and Visual A s Associate Professor Kate Fink, PhD, was recognized by the Center for Community News (CNN) at the University of Vermont for her student-produced community journalism initiative, Pleasantville Press. Fink is one of 62 CCN Champions honored for their work growing university-led repo ing programs in their region. Heather Novak, MPA, director of Pace University's Center for Community Action and Research and adjunct associate professor, Political Science, was a panelist and presenter as pa of Creating Civic Cultures on Every Campus, Campus Compact's Civic Learning Week showcasing institutions reimagining civic education for all students. The panel consisted of individuals from a selection of institutions who each demonstrated how civic learning can be woven into the fabric of every student's educational journey.
