Bom Dia, Brazil!
During the 2014 spring break, student filmmakers from
the award-winning media and communication arts travel
documentary production class traveled to Brazil to produce
the compelling short documentary Green vs. Gold: Brazil's
Race to Balance its Sports-Fueled Tourism Boom.
For more than a decade, Brazil has been riding a wave of
economic growth that has pulled tens of millions of citizens
into the middle class and pushed it to become the world's
sixth largest economy. As seen through the eyes of everyday

The Actors Studio
Drama School
Spear's Wealth Management Survey named The Actors Studio Drama School
(ASDS) among the best seven drama schools in the world. ASDS again made
The Hollywood Reporter's list, "The 25 Best Drama Schools in 2014." Coming
in at number 17, ASDS beat out other notables such as UCLA.
Brazilians and through the lens of spectacular soccer stadiums,
emerald islands, and sprawling favelas, this short documentary
describes the impact of the then upcoming 2014 World Cup and
the 2016 Summer Olympic games upon the people and the land
of this emerging tropical powerhouse.
The documentary was featured in Andrew Revkin's "Dot Earth"
blog for The New York Times. Revkin co-teaches the course along
with Program Director Maria Luskay.
Green vs. Gold premiered on May 13 at the Willcox Gym in
Pleasantville.
The Turtle Has Legs
¡Viva la Tortuga!, the thoughtful short documentary that
came out of last year's media and communications arts
travel documentary course, reached an audience far
and wide when it was accepted to several competitive
film festivals including the Wildlife Conservation
Film Festival and the New York City Independent Film
Festival. The film was also featured in The Huffington
Post, reaching an even broader audience online.
