1 Year in Review • 2013–2014 Building upon Our Strengths Dyson College of Arts and Sciences has had another year of major achievements. With the inauguration of our new Pace School of Performing Arts; faculty who continue to earn prestigious grants; growth in our program offerings; and the many ways that our students excel, both in academics, as well as in our communities, Dyson College continues to build upon its many strengths. As you'll see in this issue, Dyson College had a significant impact at Pace University this year. The College participated in the celebration of Pleasantville's 50th anniversary by hosting the premiere academic event: a lecture by renowned historian Kenneth Jackson. As part of the anniversary celebration, we also hosted the University's first-ever Film Festival, which media and communication arts graduate students developed and administered. We established the Dyson College Advisory Board and received a major gift to accelerate the renovations of the science laboratories on the New York City Campus. Our faculty and students were awarded National Institutes of Health and National Science Foundation grants. Dyson students continued to excel with big wins, including the College Fed Challenge and Model UN teams' successes, two Fulbright award winners, this year's Pace Pitch contest winner, four Jefferson Award winners, and six student award winners for faculty-mentored original research. In addition, we welcomed 30 new faculty members and acknowledged our current faculty across the arts, sciences, social sciences, and humanities, who continue to gain significant recognition for their scholarly activities both on- and off-campus. I am honored to share Dyson's many accomplishments with you. With ongoing support from you, our greatly appreciated friends, alumni, faculty, staff, parents, and members of our extended community, we can continue to provide the enriching educational experience to our students that prepares them for an engaged and rewarding life; one filled with personal and professional success.
