25 Year in Review • 2013–2014 Pace Pitch: SheerStock Is the Winner Paige Cecchi '16, a Dyson College business economics major, won first place and $1,000 in the 10th annual Pace Pitch Contest for her company SheerStock. SheerStock is a monthly service that delivers a variety of hosiery products to subscribers, saving them the inconvenience of going to the department store to replace snagged or torn hosiery. Currently, Cecchi is further developing the brand, marketing to potential customers, and taking on subscribers. The Pace Pitch Contest is presented by the Entrepreneurship Lab of the Lubin School of Business. Students have three minutes to pitch concise business ideas to a panel of judges; the winning pitches receive seed funds. Rising to the Challenge Pace's Economics Team placed third, winning an honorable mention, in the 10th annual national College Fed Challenge in Washington, D.C., on December 2. This is the second year in a row Team Pace ascended the rounds of competition by taking first place in the New York regional finals, making it all the way to the final, national event and also finishing in the top three spots. They were bested by Harvard University and University of Pennsylvania. Team members attribute their win to the dedicated faculty in the Economics Department, especially Mark Weinstock, Greg Colman, Anna Shostya, and Joseph Morreale. Three-Peat in Excellence For an unprecedented third year in a row, the Pleasantville Model United Nations team was recognized for its Outstanding Delegation at the National Model United Nations (NMUN) conference, the competition's top honor. Representing Bolivia, the award recognizes the team's strong performance and its exceptional diplomatic skills and abilities. The team also received six awards for Outstanding Position Papers in Committee. The New York City Model United Nations team received three awards for its representation of Oxfam International and Australia. The conference was held in New York City from March 30 –April 3, 2014.
