30 Dyson College of Arts and Sciences Faculty Accomplishments NICHOLAS CATALANO, professor of English and modern language studies, was recognized for his 50 years of service to Pace University at the Employee Service Awards Ceremony on March 27. The Boy, a feature film co-written by CLAY MCLEOD CHAPMAN, screenwriting professor at The Actors Studio Drama School, began production in February 2014. The film features Rainn Wilson and David Morse and is produced by Elijah Wood's production company, SpectreVision. FLORENCE DENMARK, distinguished research professor of psychology, was the recipient of a 2013 Elizabeth Hurlock Beckman Award Trust. The trust recognizes professors who have inspired their students to make a difference in their communities. She was honored at the Carter Center in Atlanta, Georgia. New York Police Department Commissioner William Bratton appointed Associate Professor of Criminal Justice and Security SUSAN HERMAN as deputy commissioner for collaborative policing. In this newly created leadership position, she will aid the police commissioner in efforts to curb crime and build relationships with communities. Herman is on leave from her post as Dyson College associate professor of criminal justice and security. Dyson Assistant Dean MARIA IACULLO-BIRD was instrumental in Pace University becoming an Enhanced Institutional Member of the Council on Undergraduate Research (CUR). This enhanced membership provides free CUR memberships for all faculty, staff, and students interested in funding opportunities and resources to support and advance undergraduate research. JANE KINNEY-DENNING, director of internships and corporate outreach and adjunct lecturer of publishing, was appointed president of the Women's National Book Association's (WNBA) New York City chapter and as the VP elect of the association's national organization. The WNBA is a membership organization for women in all facets of the world of books—publishers, booksellers, librarians, authors, illustrators, agents, and book production. Pace School of Performing Arts' JULIE FAIN LAWRENCE was cast in a supporting role in the independent feature film Concussion. The film, about a forty-something mid-life crisis, was a favorite at film festivals around the country, including the important Sundance Film Festival. RHONDA MILLER, head of the BFA in Commercial Dance program, was honored with the 2014 Lifetime Achievement Award from Dance Educators of America (DEA) for her tremendous contributions to and significant influence upon the world of dance. MARY ANN MURPHY, professor of communication studies, was awarded the Pace University Faculty Award for Distinguished Service. The award recognizes Murphy's notable service to the University's goal of advancing academic programs. The Kenan Award for Teaching Excellence was awarded to professor NANCY REAGIN, chair of the Women's and Gender Studies Department.
