In 2013, the Department of Psychology opened a new chapter in Pace's history; it began offering the University's first Doctor of Philosophy degree: the PhD is in Mental Health Counseling, which is the first such degree in New York State. Pace's PsyD in School-Clinical Child Psychology is one of only 10 nationwide programs recognized as a combined professional-scientific doctoral program by the American Psychological Association (APA).
