MAJOR ARTISTS DEVELOP NEW PROFESSIONAL WORK
WITH PACE SCHOOL OF PERFORMING ARTS STUDENTS
THE PERFORMING ARTIST IN RESIDENCE program
hosts prominent artists such as Tony Award winner Victoria Clark (The Light in the
Piazza); Tony Award-winning choreographer Jerry Mitchell (La Cage aux Folles
and Kinky Boots); choreographer Jessica Lang; choreographer Jason Samuels
Smith; Tony Award winner John Doyle (revivals of Sweeney Todd and Company);
Tony Award-winning choreographer Andy Blankenbuehler (In the Heights);
Tony Award-winning composer and lyricist Adam Guettel (The Light in the Piazza;
Floyd Collins); dancer and choreographer Brian Friedman (choreography for
Beyoncé Knowles and creative director for The X Factor); Obie-winning director
Rachel Chavkin (founding artistic director of the TEAM); Emmy-nominated
choreographer Mandy Moore (So You Think You Can Dance).
PACE NEW MUSICALS nurtures the creation of new musical theater
in New York City and provides students an invaluable educational opportunity to
develop new works with top professionals in the field.
PACE NEW WORKS INITIATIVE re-imagines the development
process for American theater and dance. Modeled on the Sundance Institute and
the O'Neill Theater Center, Pace New Works Initiative invites a working artist or
team of artists to campus each year to develop and workshop new work with
performing arts students. This initiative provides students with a unique training
and career networking opportunity.
