PACE PERFORMING
ARTS AROUND
THE WORLD
This past year, students from the Pace School of Performing Arts traveled the
globe participating in one-of-a-kind performance and academic experiences.
Every spring, PPA offers a TRAVEL COURSE—a semester-long special
topic class taught on campus and abroad. In the classroom, students learn the
performing arts traditions specific to an international region. At the end of the term,
students and faculty travel to that part of the world to experience the tradition
first-hand. Past travel courses include the traditions of Greece, Italy, Russia,
Poland, Hungary, Romania, the Czech Republic, Germany, and Austria.
Students may also elect to spend an entire semester overseas through Pace
University's Office of Study Abroad. PPA students typically study in the UK at the
Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) or the London Academy of Music and
Dramatic Art (LAMDA).
In summer 2014, three ensembles traveled to Europe as part of the International
Performance Ensemble (IPE). These ensembles worked with the Accidental
Festival in London, England; the International Festival of Making Theater
(In.F.o.Ma.T) in Athens, Greece; and the International Theatre Festival in Sibiu,
Romania. The ensembles presented theater works they developed in their first and
second years in the programs and participated in master classes, workshops, and
assisted with festival operations.
"
The In.Fo.Ma.T in Athens
challenged me as an artist
while broadening my
understanding of theater
and collaboration. Working
with theater artists from all
over the world was a truly
enriching experience."
