" Pace University's performing arts program helped me recognize talent I didn't know I had. The dedicated faculty and closely knit community brought these talents center stage through student-produced and main-stage performance, directing, and playwriting opportunities. I owe much of my success to the dedication of the Pace faculty." —Ashley Marinaccio '07 Marianaccio is the 2013 Lucille Lortel Women's Visionary Award recipient and co-founder of Co-op Theatre and Girl Be Heard, and an International Performance Ensemble instructor. The BACHELOR OF ARTS (BA) IN ACTING major is a one-of-a-kind BA program in the U.S. providing intensive actor training using ensemble-based methods. The BA in Acting and the BA in Directing comprise the Pace School of Performing Arts' International Performance Ensemble (IPE). The first three years of the program are dedicated to developing and performing devised theatrical pieces under the mentorship of established American and international theater professionals. Students are trained in the technique of ensemble work, incorporating devised performance, design, movement, and text. In their senior year, students will concentrate on their artistic goals and the creation of successful and fulfilling careers. The BA program also offers a strong liberal arts component that helps nurture well-rounded young artists who want to enter the professional industry or continue on to graduate school. The BACHELOR OF ARTS (BA) IN DIRECTING is a selective and unique program that develops students' skills in narrative storytelling and dramatic action throughout various forms of theatrical expression. As part of the International Performance Ensemble (IPE), the training process is project-oriented and provides students multiple opportunities to collaborate closely with actors, designers, playwrights, dramaturges, and technicians. Directing students develop a distinctive voice through hands-on experience that prepares them for work in commercial and not-for-profit theater, international tours as well as the creation of original projects. 8
