Jacob Burns is the premier repertory cinema in Pleasantville, showcasing foreign and indie films from the US and around the globe. Curaçao's Coral Challenge is the latest and greatest of the award-winning, short environmental documentary series produced by talented student filmmakers from the Media, Communications, and Visual Arts (MCVA) travel documentary course. The doc examines the efforts to preserve the spectacular coral reefs from threats ranging from climate change to the effects of rapid coastal development. This was the first film from the travel documentary series to premiere on the big screen. Another first, a television broadcast— the documentary was broadcast on TeleCuraçao and on the Dutch television channel RTV2 in May. The Accolade Global Film Competition and the Best Shorts Competition recognized the documentary with awards of merit.
