Dyson Year in Review 2014–2015
Summit on Resilience II:
Combating Disaster Amnesia
Dyson College and the Department of Criminal Justice and Security were
key sponsors of Pace's Summit on Resilience II: The Next Storm. The first
Summit on Resilience took place in 2012.
The summit brought together experts from Dyson College and from the
public, private, and non-governmental sectors to discuss the challenges
of overcoming "disaster amnesia" in the wake of Superstorm Sandy
and the ways in which planning, cooperation, and communication among
all sectors strengthen cities in the face of disaster.
Featured speaker Patrick Foye, executive director of the Port Authority of
New York and New Jersey, sat down for a one-on-one interview with Pace
University President Stephen J. Friedman. Other notable guests included
Andrew Revkin, New York Times "Dot Earth" blogger and senior fellow,
Pace Academy for Applied Environmental Studies; Stéphane Hallegatte,
senior economist from the World Bank; and Michael Berkowitz, president
of the Rockefeller Foundation's 100 Resilient Cities.
