Dyson Year in Review 2014–2015
From the Mayor's Office,
a New Era for New York City
Charles Fall '14 is the Staten Island borough director and
the citywide Islamic liaison for Mayor Bill DeBlasio's
administration. He is tasked with cultivating relationships
with communities that haven't before engaged in government.
"A lot of these folks come from countries where they don't trust
the government," Fall explained. "I listen to them. When they
see results, it gives them confidence in government."
The city delivered on two issues of key importance to Fall's
constituencies—an increase in the late-night Staten Island Ferry
service, and the addition of two Muslim holiday observances
to the public school calendar.
"These victories show the communities that if they organize
and they voice their concerns, change can happen." Fall says
his future is in public service, where he will continue to bring
the public trust back into government.
