9 Dyson Year in Review 2014–2015 From the Mayor's Office, a New Era for New York City Charles Fall '14 is the Staten Island borough director and the citywide Islamic liaison for Mayor Bill DeBlasio's administration. He is tasked with cultivating relationships with communities that haven't before engaged in government. "A lot of these folks come from countries where they don't trust the government," Fall explained. "I listen to them. When they see results, it gives them confidence in government." The city delivered on two issues of key importance to Fall's constituencies—an increase in the late-night Staten Island Ferry service, and the addition of two Muslim holiday observances to the public school calendar. "These victories show the communities that if they organize and they voice their concerns, change can happen."
