| DCISE ANNUAL REPORT 2015 - 2016 2 It has been a very exciting inaugural year for the Dyson Institute for Sustainability and the Environment (DCISE). The Institute represents an enormous step forward for Dyson College in support of the many environmental and sustainability activities at Pace University. It is extremely gratifying to see how all of the units within DCISE have come together in a collaborative spirit and created a vital and vibrant Institute that will support enhanced educational opportunities for our students, including new faculty and student research collaborations, and interdisciplinary study of the environment and broader sustainability issues through hands-on scientific, policy, conservation, and advocacy curricular and co-curricular activities and experiences. DCISE has made tremendous strides in unifying all their efforts, as well as in enhancing and building upon the synergies we have with the Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace and with other schools at the University. As the central environmental hub at Pace University, I am confident that the Pace community, as well as the community at-large, will benefit from the strengthened and expanded environmental focus the Institute will offer. Nira Herrmann, PhD Dean, Dyson College of Arts and Sciences It gives me great pleasure to present the first Annual Report of the new Dyson College Institute for Sustainability and the Environment (DCISE). DCISE was founded to consolidate all of the environmentally related academic and co- curricula activities within Dyson College, as well as to engage faculty and students in other units of the University who have interest in various aspects of environmental and sustainability issues. DCISE is also charged with engaging environmentally conscious outside organizations in both academic and outreach capacities so that our students may have experiences outside of the traditional classroom setting. As can be seen in this Report, the first year has been very productive in developing new academic programs and relationships, as well as supporting co-curricula activities that serve to enhance all of the academic programs. We look forward to working towards building our existing environmental programs, developing new ones, and engaging faculty and students in addressing environmental issues of the day.
