2015–16 | 25 Winners of the 5th Annual Undergraduate Student-Faculty Research Program are: Teresa Fotino '18, biology, and Assistant Professor Aaron Steiner for their research entitled "Regulation of Hair-cell Regeneration in the Zebrafish Lateral Line." Elliana Gianacopoulos '18, biology, and Professor Marcy Kelly for their research entitled "The Dipeptide, Cysteine-Glycine, is the Active Component of Glutathione that is Responsible for the Reductive Stress Related Killing of Mycobacterium bovis-BCG." Student-faculty research is the cornerstone of the Dyson College educational experience. Congratulations to this year's winning pairs! William De Feis '19, sociology, and women's and gender studies, and Assistant Professor Jason Whitesel for their research "Meanings, Morals, and Heteronormativity in the Marriage Industry." Mohini Gobin '19, biology, and Professor Nigel Yarlett for their research "A new approach to drug discovery for the treatment of Cryptosporidiosis." Annabelle Krupcheck '18, art, and Associate Professor Jillian McDonald for their research "Blue Tape Society Research Initiative." Taylor Longenberger '16, a double major in English and communications, and art, minoring in chemistry, and Assistant Professor Joseph Krumpfer for their research on "Preparation of silicone materials with controllable optical properties via the incorporation of crosslinking inorganic salts." Emily Lopes '17, biology, and Assistant Professor Matthew Marcello for their research on "RNA interference (RNAi) screen to identify new genes that control embryo development fertilization and embryo development." Samantha Pace '18, biochemistry, and Assistant Professor Elmer-Rico Mojica for their research on "Screening of flavonoids as inhibitors of amyloid formation." Yuliya Palianok '18, economics, and Associate Professor Gregory Colman for their research on "The Financial Value- Added of College Degrees By Major." The 2016 Summer Undergraduate Student-Faculty Research Initiative had seven award winning pairs.
