(WNBA) partnered with Dyson College
to present the fourth annual seminar
Words and Rhythms: e Power
of Poetry in a Complex World on
November 9, 2016.
e panel featured six poets, including Dyson's Associate Professor of English
Deborah Poe and Professor of English Ellease Ebele Oseye. It also included
poets Rosebud Ben-Oni, Amy King, Camille Rankine and Melissa Studdard.
During this time of great national upheaval, the women read poems that were meaningful
to them, discussed some of their favorite poets, and suggested how reading poetry can be
made more interesting for students.
e event was spearheaded by Dyson's own Jane Kinney-Denning, executive director of internships
and corporate outreach in the Publishing Program, and national president of the WNBA.
Dyson Dialogues is a series of salons hosted by Dean Herrmann
offering undergraduates the chance to meet and hear from seasoned
Dyson College alumni working in their career fields of interest.
is year the dean welcomed Kristin Dolan '90, the former COO of
Cablevision, and current CEO of 605, a data and analytics company
specializing in media and entertainment, and Anthony D'Iorio '85,
deputy general counsel and assistant secretary for the industrial
products manufacturer Crane Co.
Dolan received an MS in Publishing, and D'Iorio earned his
undergraduate degree in Literature and Communications from Pace.
