Elephant Protection Act Becomes Law Pleasantville Environmental Policy Clinicians wrote the Elephant Protection Act, and aer passing both houses of the New York State legislature, Governor Andrew Cuomo signed the bill into law in October 2017. With the passage of this law, New York is the first state in the nation to ban the use of elephants in circuses, and the clinicians are the first from Pace to write legislation that became law. Critter Crossing Wildlife corridors provide safe passage for animals crossing roads and other human-made barriers. is form of habitat conservation is found in cities and national parks around the world. Students working with Assistant Professor Matthew Aiello-Lammens contributed to the development of a culvert maintenance plan for amphibian wildlife passages in the Hudson River Estuary. e project received funding from e Hudson River Estuary Program. Floating Farm Students visited Swale, a floating farm built atop a barge. Docking at piers throughout NYC including underserved neighborhoods, the barge is open to the public and all are welcome to harvest delicacies like golden oregano, strawberries, Jerusalem artichokes and scarlet runner beans for free. Students were introduced to the idea of public food in public places, and learned the latest urban farming techniques and the importance of public waterways. Green Works 2016–17 | 15
