DCISE Annual Report 2017-2018 3 MESSAGE FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR This is the third Annual Report of the Dyson College Institute for Sustainability and the Environment (DCISE), which demonstrates continued success in fulfilling DCISE's mission as a dynamic academic center and resource for the College, the University and members of the external community who are concerned about environmental issues. Since its founding, DCISE has been working to integrate the environmentally-related academic and co-curricular activities within Dyson College, engage faculty and students who have interest in various aspects of environmental and sustainability issues, and partner with environmentally-conscious outside organizations in both academic and outreach capacities. One of the highlights this year was our student involvement in legislation in New York State, which is the type of experiential learning that is part of the Pace Path initiative at the University. The renovation of the former Nature Center Museum into a new environmental lab for faculty and student research was completed and work to be performed in this space will be part of a new proposed Environmental Conservation Certificate. The coming year will continue our efforts in teaching, research, and training about today's environmental issues. Sincerely, Richard B. Schlesinger, PhD ON THE COVER Students from the Masters in Environmental Policy (MAEP) program at Pace University walk through the Dyson College Nature Center with MAEP Program Director Michelle D. Land.
