www.pace.edu/ccar 6 Shaniya Francis '22, Student Outreach Coordinator, PLV Shaniya has been working at CCAR since her freshman year at Pace. An Economics major and Political Science minor, she hopes to one day create her own nonprofit organization. Shaniya's main focus is caring for the environment. Her favorite Center-led event was the cleanup of Rockefeller State Park, where students planted trees and removed invasive plants at the park. What is the most meaningful part of your job? "I learn about [discrimination and injustice] issues that don't directly impact me, but I am able to do research and come up with a solution that will assist the people who are impacted." Noelani Rivera '22, Student Projects Coordinator, PLV As a Criminal Justice major and Law minor, Noelani is passionate about criminal justice reform. She first became involved with CCAR by attending Alternative Spring Break in 2018. Noelani is also a part of the Setters Leadership Program and is a student in Pforzheimer Honors College. Working with the Center has shown Noelani that activism and advocacy are for everyone. What is the most meaningful part of your job? "The issues we work to improve are bigger than us, extending even beyond just the Pace community, which makes what we do all the more important." Laurianne Gutierrez '21, Student Volunteer and Advocacy Projects Coordinator, NYC A Political Science major with minors in Philosophy, Women's and Gender Studies, and Sociology/Anthropology, Laurianne has been involved with CCAR since her freshman year. Laurianne hopes to go to law school to pursue a career in public interest. Laurianne is most passionate about finding comprehensive solutions to combating the gun violence epidemic through non- partisan legislative advocacy. What is the most meaningful part of your job? "Building connections with students and staff all over campus during Take Action tabling events and partnerships with different organizations." On working at CCAR: "I am able to help other students be civically engaged by registering them to vote and giving them access to important election information." Erin Wilson '20, Vote Everywhere Ambassador Team Leader, NYC As the Vote Everywhere Ambassador and Team Leader, Erin works in partnership with CCAR and the Andrew Goodman Foundation to register and empower Pace student voters. She is majoring in Criminal Justice and intends to pursue a law degree, specializing in civil rights law. Erin is most interested in criminal justice and prison reform, and gun violence prevention.
