PSY 501 INTRODUCTION TO SCHOOL-CLINICAL CHILD PSYCHOLOGY I (MSED/PSYD/PhD-S) 0 credits is is an introductory course on the foundations and delivery of school-clinical child psychological services. Students are familiarized with the history of school and clinical child psychology, the development and history of the PsyD model, and the history of the combined-integrated model of training. Program accreditation, professional credentialing, and licensure issues are also introduced to students. Legal and ethical issues, professional organizations pertinent to psychological service delivery in school-clinical child settings, and evidence-based practice are also integral parts of this course. Prerequisite: Admission to MSEd, PsyD, or PhD-S graduate psychology programs. Fall PSY 502 INTRODUCTION TO SCHOOL-CLINICAL CHILD PSYCHOLOGY II (MSED/PSYD/PhD-S) 0 credits is course is an extension of the Introduction to School-Clinical Child Psychology I. Student experiences include the New York State- mandated child abuse training and the mandated training regarding violence prevention. e American Psychological Association (APA) and National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) ethical guidelines continue to be introduced and discussed. Cultural and other diversity aspects, certification/licensure, and working with other professionals in the context of providing school-clinical psychological services are covered in this course. Prerequisite: Admission to MSEd, PsyD, or PhD-S graduate psychology programs. Spring PSY 509A PRACTICUM IN PSYCHOLOGICAL SERVICES: INTAKE (MSED/PSYD/PhD-C) 0 credits is practicum provides students with training and supervision related to intake procedures in the provision of psychological services. Students learn and participate in interviewing and are introduced to the therapeutic, diagnostic process. Students are observed and receive feedback on their performance. (First year MSEd and PsyD students). PSY 509A PRACTICUM IN PSYCHOLOGICAL SERVICES: PSYCHOTHERAPY (MSED/PSYD/PhD-S/PhD-C) 0 credits is practicum provides students with training and supervision related to providing psychotherapy. e practicum sequence includes an introduction to psychotherapy. Subsequently, there are practica in cognitive-behavioral and psychodynamic approaches. Advance practica on one or both intervention approaches is required for third- year MSEd and PsyD students. Prerequisite: Permission of the Director of the McShane Center for Psychological Services PSY 509A PSYCHOTHERAPY WITH COUPLES AND FAMILY PRACTICUM 0 credits is practicum is focused on providing in-depth training in conducting couples and family therapy from an integrative perspective. is course integrates evidence-based Cognitive-Behavioral (PREP) and evidence-based Attachment-based therapies (Emotionally-Focused erapy or EFT), and approaches that center multicultural sensitivity. Time is also devoted to extending students' understanding of theory and its application to clinical practice of assessment and intervention, and to an appreciation of research methods and findings, especially as relates to particular types of couples and families, or couples and families facing particular challenges. PSY 509B PARENT-INFANT PRACTICUM IN PSYCHOLOGICAL SERVICES (MSED/PSYD/PhD-S/PhD-C) 0 credits is practicum provides students with observation and research opportunities related to parent-infant interactions. Prerequisite: Permission of the coordinator of the parent-infant practicum PSY 509D PRACTICUM IN PSYCHOLOGICAL SERVICE-EARLY CHILDHOOD (MSED/PSYD/PhD-S) 0 credits is practicum provides students with training and supervision in psychological services to the early childhood population. Prerequisite: Permission of the coordinator of the early childhood practicum PSY 509E PRACTICUM IN NEUROPSYCHOLOGY (MSED/ PSYD/PhD-S/PhD-C) 0 credits is practicum provides students with didactics, training, and supervision related to neuropsychological assessment. Students will learn to administer, score, and interpret various neuropsychological test; they will also learn report writing strategies; and be introduced to neuropsychological diagnostics and relevant clinical issues. ey will administer clinical test batteries and receive both individual and group supervision. PSY 509G ADDITIONAL CLINICAL FIELD EXPERIENCE (MSED/PSYD/PhD-S/PhD-C) 0 credits Students who would like to expand their training activities beyond those that are minimally required for degree completion, may seek additional field experiences in which they deliver psychological services or receive additional training in intervention, consultation, or diagnostic evaluation beyond what is available as part of their current field placement. is course is available for experiences at off-site training facilities.
