FEBRUARY 2013 Pace Performing Arts presents acts from Samuel Beckett's plays, Play and Ohio Impromptu, as part of La Mama's Four Beckett Shorts program. Confucius Institute at Pace University hosts a Chinese Lunar New Year celebration replete with Chinese opera, a lion dance, and more. The event is co-sponsored by the New York City Council and the New York Chinese Opera Society. NOVEMBER 2012 Pace Performing Arts presents the rock musical Spring Awakening. The Center for Community Action and Research hosts a Thanksgiving dinner with survivors of domestic violence. Dyson College co-sponsors the 17th Bio Ethics Forum on the topic Water Wars: Is Water an Endangered Species? Charlene Hoegler, lecturer in Biology, and Robert Chapman, professor of Philosophy and Religious Studies, moderate the panel. Ghassan Karam, lecturer in Environmental Science, is a panelist. Dyson Dean's Lecture Series: Guest speaker Donald McCabe of Rutgers University discusses cheating in college and ethical decision making. DECEMBER 2012 Project Studio, a showcase of work by advanced-level art students, takes place at the Choate House Gallery on the Westchester Campus and at the Fingesten Gallery on the New York City Campus. Pace Performing Arts's Commercial Dance program presents the Dancespace 2012 Showcase: Works in Progress, a showcase of dance pieces choreographed by students and professionals. JANUARY 2013 Tony Award-winning director Julie Taymor speaks at The Michael Schimmel Center for the Arts as part of the Pace Master Series. A veteran director of stage and screen, Taymor is best known for her Broadway production of The Lion King and, most recently, Spider Man: Turn Off The Dark. Pace Performing Arts' Pace New Musicals program presents I Capture the Castle and Make Me Mad. 22 • Dyson College of Arts and Sciences MARCH 2013 Pace Performing Arts presents Queens Boulevard (the Musical). Dyson College, the Lubin School, and the Travelers Institute present a screening of Overdraft, a one-hour documentary made for public television that presents a compelling explanation of America's federal debt crisis. Following the screening, faculty experts from the department of Political Science participate in a panel discussion. Open to students from all universities, the PIERS 2012 Student Conference takes place and addresses the theme of Encountering Nature Through University Culture.
