Pace Excels at College Federal Reserve Challenge T he Pace University team competing in the 2011 College Federal Reserve Challenge won a prestigious second place honors in the final round of the New York Federal Reserve Bank's competition, beating out teams including West Point, New York University, Princeton, Columbia, and Cornell. In 2012, the Pace team (pictured above with Chairman of the Federal Reserve Ben Bernanke) won first place at the New York Federal Reserve's College Fed Challenge, besting 33 teams from other colleges and advancing on to the national competition in Washington, D.C. The team is coached by Associate Professor Gregory Colman, PhD, and Lecturers Anna Shostya, PhD, and Mark Weinstock, PhD. Pace Takes Home Most Awards at Model UN Conference T he Pace Model UN team took home 12 awards at the 2012 National Model United Nations Conference in New York City— more than any other participating university. Both the New York City and Westchester delegations were recognized for their work. "Pace University's approach to Model UN is geared toward experiential education in practical global policymaking," says Matthew Bolton, PhD, the team's faculty adviser. "As such, the highest priority is learning rather than competition, education rather than awards. While I see awards as recognition of our students' hard work, not the end goal in themselves, the Pace delegations should be proud of what they achieved." Year in Review 2011-2012 | 9
