Community Service By the Numbers (2011–2012) 58,492 92 Community service hours Center for Community Action and Research The Center for Community Action and Research (CCAR), housed in Dyson College, encourages students and University members to work with non-profit and governmental organizations to address common concerns in their communities through coursework, internships, volunteer work, speaking opportunities, co‑sponsored events, and research. Pace is also one of 29 private institutions participating in Project Pericles, a national initiative to promote opportunities for students, staff, and faculty to explore the nature of the rights and responsibilities of citizenship. In addition, each year Pace hosts Alternative Spring Break (pictured above), providing students with a three-dimensional view of pressing social issues. For the last several years, Alternative Spring Break has focused on hunger and homelessness.
